To do that, our education system has to provide the curriculum, teachers and opportunities that can teach kind of life-long learners that can succeed in this new, future economy.
As your next City Councilman, I propose that we:
- Fold learning experiences between students and our community institutions, including non-profits, businesses, hospitals and law enforcement into local school curriculums.
- Fold local artists and chefs from local restaurants into school activities, including lunch, to deepen the health and artistic education of our students.
- Support physical and online education that includes not just soft skills like collaboration and human design thinking, but also financial literacy and money management.
- Commit to teaching both students and their caregivers (parents and anyone else in the household) by extending school hours physically and virtually.
- Provide children and families not only learning technology like iPads or computers, but training for everyone in the family to use it.
- Support local businesses and contractors who will physically repair and upgrade the physical spaces where are kids learn, including spaces where they can exercise and learn though sports.
